UFC® 118 TITLE FIGHT ACTION BURSTS BACK ONTO BIG SCREENS NATIONWIDE AS FRANKIE EDGAR AND BJ PENN THROW DOWN THE GAUNTLET IN THEIR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED REMATCH THIS AUGUST
Centennial, Colo. – August 9, 2010 – Ultimate Fighting Championship® (UFC®) and NCM Fathom have once again joined forces to give fans the front-row treatment with the high-definition broadcast of UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2 in 369 select movie theaters nationwide on Saturday, August 28 at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT. Broadcast live from the TD Garden in Boston, the much anticipated rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn will be the first-ever UFC event in Massachusetts.
UFC fans can catch all the action in their local theaters by purchasing tickets at www.FathomEvents.com and at presenting theater box offices. Visit the NCM Fathom website for a complete list of theater locations and prices (theaters and participants are subject to change). Fans who purchase four tickets to the in-theater event can receive a free TapouT t-shirt. Redemption details are available at www.ufc.com/4pack.
Theatergoers across the country will be part of history as mixed martial arts (MMA) comes to Massachusetts for the first time following a two-year effort by legislators to bring the sport to the Bay State. Signed into law in December 2009 by Gov. Deval Patrick, the regulation of MMA enables the UFC to bring a full schedule of exciting events to Massachusetts including UFC 118: Edgar vs. Penn 2.
“UFC 118, with the rematch between Frankie Edgar and BJ Penn, and UFC legend Randy Couture and three-time boxing champion James Toney, is going to look and sound amazing on the big screen in theaters,” said Dana White, UFC President.
The title fight is a rematch between Edgar and Penn, who last met in the Octagon at UFC 112 on April 10. That back-and-forth fight kept fans glued to their seats and ended with a razor-thin win by Edgar; Penn’s first loss in the 155-pound division since 2002. Despite controversy among fans and critics over the close scoring, Edgar walked away with the title as judges called the match 50-45, 48-47 and 49-46 in his favor. Given the near-even matchup and tremendous competitiveness of these two fighters, the rematch bout is shaping up to be one of the biggest fights of the year.
Also on this card, UFC Hall of Famer, Randy Couture goes toe-to-toe with boxing legend James Toney. The 41-year-old Toney makes his UFC debut against Couture who has been a mainstay of MMA for over a decade and has been a three-time former heavyweight champion and a two-time light-heavyweight champion, as well as a former US Olympic wrestling team alternate in his pre-MMA days. Toney got his start in boxing in 1988 and fought professionally until 2009, winning his way through Middleweight, Super Middleweight, Cruiserweight, and Heavyweight championship titles.
In addition to these two highly-anticipated fights, UFC 118 : Edgar vs. Penn 2 will also feature the battle between Kenny Florian and Gray Maynard. Boston hometown favorite Florian will pit his impressive 13-4 professional record against Maynard’s flawless 9-0 with the next top lightweight contender spot on the line.
“Fathom and UFC present another grouping of bone-crunching matches for the delight of hungry MMA fans this month with UFC 118 : Edgar vs. Penn 2,” said Dan Diamond, vice president of NCM Fathom. “If you can’t be ringside in Boston, be front-row center in your local movie theater for the ultimate UFC experience.”
UFC 118 : Edgar vs. Penn 2 will be shown in select movie theaters including AMC Entertainment Inc., Celebration! Cinema, Cinemark USA Inc., Clearview Cinemas, Cobb Theatres, Kerasotes Showplace Theatres, National Amusements, Rave Motion Pictures and Regal Entertainment Group movie theaters, as well as The Arlington Theatre (Santa Barbara, CA), Carolina Theatre (Asheville, NC), Palace Cinema 9 (South Burlington, VT) and Penn Cinema (Lititz, PA), through NCM’s exclusive Digital Broadcast Network – North America’s largest cinema broadcast network.
Hey,
Here’s a 2008 press release for me vs Floyd Mayweather
I’m posting it here for 2 good reasons.
1. Because I want to show you what it’s like when reporters just make up stuff about you lol
2. Because I never said any of the crazy stuff in the interview but get quoted like I did all the time.
Here’s what REALLY happened.
Floyd was doing Pro Wrestling at the time and the interview went like this..
Them: “Hey your uncle is a Pro Wrestler so is Brock Lesnar. How about a fight with you and Brock Lesnar?”
Me: “Brock cuts to 265lbs I can make 155lbs .. He outweighs me by over 100lbs..a more realistic fight would be Floyd Mayweather since he’s 155, he’s doing Pro Wrestling right now and he hates MMA.”
Them: “How do you think a fight would go between you and Floyd?”
Me: “Floyd is the best in the world at boxing but he keeps calling out MMA .. In MMA I would beat him without even hitting him..any MMA fighter he faces would beat him easily.. it’s 2 different sports.”
^^^
THAT got turned into THIS

“Hulk Hogan’s Nephew ‘King’ David Bollea: Bring Me Floyd Mayweather!
Making His MMA Debut This Sunday at the St. Pete Times Forum, Bollea Challenges the Pound-for-Pound Boxing Champion to Step inside the XFC Steel Cage
DATE: 2/29/08
TAMPA, FL: Welterweight champion ‘Pretty Boy’ Floyd Mayweather, after defeating ring legends like Oscar De La Hoya and Arturo Gatti, is preparing to compete against ‘The Big Show’ Paul White at the WWE’s signature Pay-Per-View event Wrestlemania in Orlando, Florida on March 30, 2008. One person with a personal connection to the world of bodyslams and piledrivers hopes that Mayweather will forego the wrestling ring – and enter the unscripted realm of the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
“My Uncle Hulk Hogan headlined countless Wrestlemania’s, and I have enormous respect for the superstars of the WWE,” said ‘King’ David Bollea, who’s making his MMA professional debut at the XFC’s Salute to Our Armed Forces 2 extravaganza at the St. Petersburg Times Forum this Sunday on March 2. “But as everyone knows, the outcomes of wrestling matches are predetermined. If Floyd Mayweather truly wants to establish himself as the best fighter on the planet, then he needs to enter the XFC steel cage and prepare to get his ass kicked. And kicking the asses of over-hyped ‘Pretty Boys’ is a Hogan family specialty.”
But what would motivate someone like Floyd Mayweather to risk his reputation and boxing career by entering the anything-goes environment of MMA? According to Bollea, it all comes down to personal pride – and a burning desire to be recognized as the very best. “We all bleed and we all die,” said Bollea between training sessions. “But for a select few of us, we have a unique opportunity to achieve immortality by standing before 15,000 screaming fans and cementing a legacy as the greatest fighter in the history of MMA. Look, if Floyd wants to brag about being the world’s best boxer ‘cause he throws pitter-patter punches in a boxing ring, more power to him. That’s fine. But if he’s gonna continue to claim that he’s the world’s best fighter, then he has a moral obligation to every MMA fan to accept my challenge. Otherwise, he better shut his mouth and pray we don’t cross paths.”
Despite his tough words, ‘King’ David Bollea is willing to offer Mayweather a major pre-fight concession: a promise to avoid facial disfigurement. “’Pretty Boy’ Floyd is a very good-looking guy,” Bollea sheepishly acknowledged. “If he were any prettier, he ought to be wearing a pink dress and lace panties. So, as a sign of goodwill, I hereby pledge that when I whip his ass, I’ll carefully avoid transforming that pretty little face of his into a pile of mashed potatoes. That way, even when he’s completely discredited as being ‘the best fighter on the planet,’ he can still appear on ‘America’s Top Model,’ or something.”
XFC’s Salute to Our Armed Forces 2 fight card extravaganza will take place on March 2 at the St. Petersburg Times Forum. Most of the fighters are either military veterans, or hail from military families. The festivities will begin at noon , with the first fight taking place at 5:25 pm . Tickets are available at all Ticketmaster locations.”
Crazy how different it is from what I REALLY said right?
A lot of people have been asking me how to box. I found this program online and the dude that teaches it has got 6747 students.
I did a little research on him before I chose to write about his program.
The dude’s not like a Pro Boxer or a World Champion or anything but he IS honest about it which is a very good quality and he has A TON of happy students.
So he must be showing something good.
Anyway I don’t think this program will get you ready to fight Mike Tyson or anybody but it will show you the basics, get you in shape and help you get a good solid understanding of the fundamentals.
Oh and it’s extremely affordable.
If you’re looking for a beginner’s boxing course this is a good place to start.
